Brizo vs Delta: Why We Chose Delta Champagne Bronze for Our Custom Home

We’re currently in the rough-in phase of our new build, and if you’ve ever built or renovated a house, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

If not, this is basically the stage where the walls are still open and all of the not-so-pretty-but-very-important stuff that lives behind them is going in.

Plumbing was one area I seriously overthought.

I had become completely attached to Brizo’s Luxe Gold finish.

I already had my countertops picked — Cambria Britannica Warm Gold — and in my head, Brizo Luxe Gold was going to be the finish throughout the house.

Then I started putting everything into my cart.

And apparently when you buy luxury plumbing fixtures, EVERY. SINGLE. PIECE. is a decision.

😂 Handles, trim, rough-ins, shower components, hand showers, elbows, tub spouts... the total started climbing very quickly.

Eventually, I had to step back and ask myself:

Where does spending more actually make a difference in how we live in this home?

Because while I absolutely appreciate beautiful design, I also want to make thoughtful decisions throughout this build.

And the reality was…

My kids are not going to care if their shower valve is Brizo.

They are not going to notice the difference between a luxury plumbing brand and a quality alternative.

They just want a shower that works. 😂

So I started looking at my options more strategically.

The Brizo VS. Delta Decision

I finally went into our local Ferguson showroom and started comparing my Brizo selections with Delta options.

I also spent time at Hydrologic, another incredible plumbing showroom, where I was able to see different fixtures, finishes, and brands in person.

Seeing everything in real life made such a difference.

Sometimes a finish looks perfect online, but standing in front of it and comparing the tones, textures, and quality changes everything.

That’s when I started looking at Delta differently.

I had always viewed Brizo as the “dream” option, but after spending time comparing the two brands, I realized Delta offered many of the same design elements I loved — without requiring me to spend luxury-brand pricing throughout every bathroom in the house.

Something else I learned during this process:

Delta and Brizo are actually part of the same company.

Brizo is Delta Faucet Company’s luxury, design-forward brand, while Delta offers a broader range of products and price points.

They share many of the same engineering standards and technologies, but the biggest difference I noticed was the design options and the price point.

So I went home, reopened my cart, and started comparing every fixture.

And that’s when I had to make the decision:

Was the Brizo premium worth it throughout the entire house?

For us, the answer was no.

What the Switch Actually Saved Us

Once I rebuilt my cart using Delta alternatives, the difference was impossible to ignore.

Original Brizo cart: $28,972

Delta comparison cart: $17,831.03

Difference: $11,140.97

This was before any contractor discounts and based on the exact fixtures I was comparing at the time, so pricing will vary depending on selections, retailer, finish, and availability.

But seeing an $11,000+ difference on paper made the decision very clear.

I could create the look I wanted while freeing up budget for other areas of our home that mattered more.

Why We Chose Delta

The biggest savings came from the showers.

Originally, I had selected Brizo shower systems throughout the home.

After comparing them with Delta options, I realized I could create beautiful, functional bathrooms without spending thousands more on fixtures that would mostly blend into the overall design.

For the kids’ bathrooms especially, this became an easy decision.

I switched to Delta shower systems that still gave me the warm, timeless look I loved without paying the luxury-brand premium.

For my daughter’s bathrooms, we built the design around Delta Champagne Bronze fixtures, including the shower trim, tub spout, shower head, and hand shower.

My son’s bathroom followed the same philosophy — a beautiful, functional shower system without spending extra money on something he will never appreciate. 😂

And then I carried that same logic into the primary bathroom.

Even though the primary bathroom was one of the spaces where I originally wanted to splurge, I realized that much of the shower hardware is not the main design feature of the room.

The tile, vanity, lighting, mirrors, countertops, and overall layout are what create the feeling of the space.

So I decided Delta was the right choice there too.

Why Champagne Bronze Won

My biggest hesitation was letting go of Brizo Luxe Gold.

I had spent so much time envisioning that finish throughout our home.

But once I saw Delta Champagne Bronze in person, I realized it gave me the same feeling I loved about Brizo.

It was warm.

It was timeless.

It worked beautifully with my Cambria Britannica Warm Gold countertops.

And most importantly, it allowed me to stay intentional with our budget.

Sometimes I think we get caught up in feeling like every single detail needs to be the most expensive option to create a beautiful home.

But building a forever home is about making decisions that make sense for your family.

For us, Delta checked all the boxes.

My New Plumbing-Fixture Rule

This whole process ended up giving me a rule I’m going to carry throughout the rest of our build:

Splurge where the design truly matters. Save where function matters more.

I don’t regret loving Brizo.

The fixtures are beautiful, and I completely understand why people choose them.

But I also don’t regret looking at my cart, seeing the numbers, and realizing that spending an extra $11,000+ on plumbing fixtures was not where I wanted our budget going.

A forever home is not about buying the most expensive version of everything.

It’s about creating a home that feels intentional.

A home where every decision has a reason behind it.

For us, choosing Delta allowed us to keep the warm, timeless look we wanted while putting that extra budget toward other areas of the house that will impact our everyday life even more.

And honestly?

I would make the same decision again.
