Why I Love My Tushbaby Hip Carrier

The baby carrier I didn’t expect my husband to love — but now we both reach for it.
When I bought my leopard-print Tushbaby, I honestly did not think my husband would ever want to wear it.
It felt very much like something I had bought for myself — cute, convenient, and perfect for those stages when baby wants to be held constantly but you still need your arms to function.
Then we took a trip to Disney’s Magic Kingdom with a baby who was absolutely not interested in sitting in the stroller.
My husband put the Tushbaby on.
And basically never looked back. 😂
It Takes So Much of the Weight Off
If you’ve ever spent any amount of time carrying a baby or toddler on your hip, you know how quickly your arms, shoulders, and upper body start feeling it.
That’s where the Tushbaby really shines for us.
It wraps securely around your waist and gives baby a supportive little seat, so instead of your arms doing all of the work to hold them up, a lot of that weight feels much more supported through your waist and hips.
You’re still holding and supporting your child, of course, but it takes away so much of that constant “lifting” feeling.
For long days out, it makes a huge difference.
My Husband Became a Convert at Disney
The moment that really sold my husband was walking around Magic Kingdom.
Our baby wanted to be held, so he wore the Tushbaby for a huge portion of the day.
If baby fell asleep, he could use the seat as a little extra support while resting his arms underneath them instead of feeling like he had to carry the entire weight of a sleeping baby himself.
If you’ve ever carried a sleeping toddler through a theme park, you understand how valuable that is. 😂
After that trip, the Tushbaby stopped being “my carrier.”
It became ours.
The Pockets Are Surprisingly Useful
Another thing I love is how much you can fit into the built-in storage.
For a quick outing, I really don’t need a diaper bag if I have the Tushbaby with me.
I usually have enough space for things like:
my phone
one diaper
a small pack of wipes
zinc oxide sunscreen
a few hair ties
a couple of little essentials
And that’s basically all we need for a quick errand.
It sounds like a small feature, but having those things right on your waist instead of carrying another bag makes the whole setup feel even easier.
Perfect for the “Up, Down, Up Again” Stage
This is probably one of my favorite uses for it.
There is a stage where your child wants to:
walk.
Then be held.
Then walk again.
Then immediately be held again. 😂
A traditional carrier can be amazing when you know baby is going to stay in it for a while.
But for quick ups and downs, I love having the Tushbaby because I don’t have to buckle my child into a full carrier every single time.
I can pick them up, give my arms some support, and put them back down when they decide they’re suddenly independent again.
I Keep Mine in the Trunk
That probably tells you how much I actually use it.
My Tushbaby lives in my trunk.
It’s perfect for:
quick errands, grocery runs, theme parks, walking around somewhere without wanting a full stroller setup, or those times when a child suddenly decides they absolutely refuse to sit in the stroller you brought specifically for them. 😂
It’s just one of those baby products that makes everyday life slightly easier.
And those tend to be the things I end up loving the most.
Is the Tushbaby Worth It?
For us, absolutely.
I originally bought it because I wanted something that would make carrying my baby more comfortable.
What I didn’t expect was how much both my husband and I would use it.
It feels secure around my waist, takes a noticeable amount of strain off my arms and upper body, gives baby a comfortable place to sit, and the built-in storage makes it surprisingly practical.
Would I still use a traditional baby carrier?
Absolutely.
They serve different purposes.
But for quick carrying, toddlers who constantly want up and down, long days somewhere like Disney, and everyday errands?
The Tushbaby is one of those things I’m very happy we own.
And yes, even the leopard print one my husband swore he probably wouldn’t wear. 😂
The Bottom Line
I bought the Tushbaby thinking it would be one more helpful baby item for me.
Instead, it became something both of us genuinely reach for.
If your baby loves being held, your toddler is constantly asking to be picked up, or your arms are simply tired of doing all the work, this is one baby product I think is genuinely worth knowing about.
Mine will continue living in the trunk, ready for whatever child decides the stroller is suddenly unacceptable that day. 🤎
